DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION
Halcyon Consulting and Mediation is a full-service Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) company with a growing clientele and specializations. Currently focused on law enforcement, educational systems and community organizations, HCM DE&I solutions are designed to impact the specific needs of each of their clients. It is our ultimate goal to ensure an inclusive workplace, bring cultural awareness to all cultures, and bridge gaps between all helping systems and the communities they serve.
With society's increased racial climate, organizations are generally placing increased resources into diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, but often still fail to support diverse talent through proper and meaningful training. Working together, as a team, HCM's focus is to ensure an inclusive workplace. It is our goal to foster a diverse workforce and institute a culture of equity for each of our clients.

LAW ENFORCEMENT
Just like with anyone else we partner with, HCM's goal is to increase conscious inclusion within the law enforcement system. This necessary culture within law enforcement sectors is mandated by society's heightened intolerance of exclusion. Building law enforcement's capacity though conscious inclusion can be complicated because of the ever-growing need to interact across cultural differences. These differences may include race, gender, social class, age or any other individualism. It is our goal at HCM to equip each officer with the training tools to better work across those differences to properly serve and protect their diverse community and themselves. Our ultimate goal is to create peaceful, inclusive communities where everyone arrives safely at home.
EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS
Often found within higher education institutions, the practice of diversity and inclusion is not however commonly found at the grade school level. Fortunately, within the last decade, secondary schools are increasingly highlighting the importance of equity to their students and faculty.
HCM helps this cause by encouraging an inclusive environment with our education partners and trains teachers to be aware of issues around race, ethnicity and gender. Additionally, as more students identify as transgender, HCM teaches faculty and staff to understand the challenges concerning LGBTQ individuals. We hold training session that include the change agents within the school system and provide learning material for a better understanding of the inequities that exist within public systems.

COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS
Community and non-profit organizations are not immune to the stereotypes, bias and prejudices that may live in the organizations. These stigmas often create a barrier to a successful mission. Studies show a diverse workplace improves decision making, increases innovation and creativity while driving employees to work harder.
Diversity in growing organizations is typically natural, however, inclusion typically comes with a conscious effort. When community organizations partner with HCM, we train organizational leaders to look at diversity as an asset instead of a liability. Inclusion takes hard work and demands that organizations of all sizes and in all communities welcome and celebrate diversity.

"My first interaction with Mr. Walker was 2010, during his tenure as a program coordinator for a non-profit youth mentoring program in Austin, Texas. I witnessed his ability to connect with at-risk populations to include parents, youth, community members and the government agencies of whom we worked with. He did an outstanding job in recruiting and engaging community mentors to the program.
I was extremely amazed at Tim's ability to "bring everyone together" to accomplish our goals, which was to help people. The students, mentors and government agencies respected his expertise and commitment with the youth he served. Tim is an inspiring speaker and training facilitator with a great talent to engage diverse audiences and keep the difficult conversations real." - Yahaira Rodriguez |
